Table WSN-1. Warships Bearing Saskatchewan Names
Beginning in World War II, the Canadian navy has frequently honoured a variety of Saskatchewan communities in the naming of its warships. There have been several warships with Saskatchewan names, ranging in size from destroyers, frigates and corvettes, down to the small but vital harbour tankers (oilers) such as HMCS Dundurn . Two ships with Saskatchewan names, HMCS Regina and HMCS Weyburn , were sunk during World War II. Currently HMC ships Regina and Saskatoon represent the province in Canada’s naval fleet.
