Born on March 5, 1950, in Saskatoon, Rick Folk is a world champion men's curler. Folk's Saskatoon rink won the 1970 Saskatchewan Junior Men's championship, while his mixed curling teams captured five provincial (1974-75, 1981-83) and two Canadian (1974, 1983) mixed championships. His rinks won three consecutive Saskatchewan Men's titles (1978-80), and both the Canadian Brier and the Air Canada Silver Broom as world curling champions in 1980. Consisting of Folk, Ron Mills, Tom Wilson, and Jim Wilson, the team brought Canada its first world title since 1972. Folk moved to British Columbia in the late 1980s and skipped his Kelowna-based rink to four provincial crowns (1989, 1993-95), and to the 1994 Brier and World Curling Championship. Folk's Silver Broom foursome were inducted into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame in 1980 and the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame in 1985. His 1974 and 1983 mixed rinks were inducted into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame in 2004.
