Flexi-Coil was founded in 1952 by Emerson and Kenneth Summach of Saskatoon, as a family-owned and operated business. The company's corporate office is located in Saskatoon; other offices are in Minot, North Dakota, and Ames, Iowa; in Perth, Western Australia, and Toowoomba, Queensland; and in York, England. Flexi-Coil had revenues of approximately $67 million in 1999. The first product to be introduced by Flexi-Coil was the coil packer, which revolutionized the seeding process. For over fifty years, the company's research and development focus led to the development of equipment used in seeding, planting, tillage, and chemical application. They design and manufacture a wide range of dryland products including air carts, precision seeding tools, tillage machinery, sprayers and harrows. Flexi-Coil also offers a precision line of Row Crop products, which include precision planting tools, air carts and nurse systems, tillage machinery, sprayers and harrows. Innovative technology has enabled Flexi-Coil to gain an international reputation for superior product service, quality and design, and allowed the company to expand to markets around the world. One of Flexi-Coil's innovative products includes Flexi-Coil air seeding systems, which are used in over 20 countries. Another is FlexControlâ„¢ task controller, which allows for automated variable rate application of seed, fertilizer or spray using GPS control, and was recognized as a 1999 Outstanding Innovation in product or systems by the American Society of Agricultural Engineers. In 1997, through an agreement with New Holland, Flexi-Coil agreed to sell a majority stake in the company over an undisclosed period of time. New Holland initially purchased 35% of Flexi-Coil in December 1997. On January 4, 2000, CNH Global N.V., the company created through a merger of Case Corporation and New Holland, acquired all of the shares of Flexi-Coil Ltd.
