Lawrence Stevenson was born on August 3, 1915. A former chief of the Pasqua First Nation, he was responsible for establishing the first credit union on a Saskatchewan Indian reserve. Additionally, he was involved in organizations such as the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations, the Lebret School Board, the Fort Qu'Appelle hospital, Kinookimaw Resort, and the Saskatchewan Power Corporation. He was invested as a Member of the Order of Canada in 1985. Stevenson died on November 8, 1998.
