A native of Hamilton, Ontario, Suzanne Claire Olaski established a soup kitchen in Saskatoon in 1995 that fed hundreds of people everyday. She also created Community Alive Inc., a non-profit organization whose mandate is to operate a sixty-room hotel and convention centre called Cedar Lodge. Overlooking Blackstrap Lake, Cedar Lodge was founded by Olaski in 1997 and provides hotel/convention services and treatment programs. In addition, Olaski has worked in street missions and the ghettos of Oakland, California. She was awarded the Saskatchewan Order of Merit in 2004.
