Born on a farm near Watrous, Saskatchewan, in 1924, Jack Mollard is an internationally honoured engineer, geoscientist, teacher, author, and consultant. A graduate of the University of Saskatchewan, he began in 1947 a lifelong passion for interpreting the earth’s physical geography, its natural resources and its geo-environment from 3-D air photos and, later, satellite images. Since opening a Regina-based consulting office in 1956, Mollard has led a small group of interdisciplinary specialists on some 5,000 projects on six continents and Mars. He takes delight in searching for hidden gravel and groundwater sources, spotting and avoiding terrain hazards, locating dams to store runoff waters, discovering northern Transportation routes, and prospecting for oil, gas and economic minerals, including Diamonds and Gold.

Jack Mollard has published over 100 technical and scientific papers and two textbooks, and has presented over 100 short courses in Canada and the United States. A gifted and generous speaker, he rarely declines an invitation, whether from international universities, technical conferences, the United Nations, First Nations, or boyscout troops. He has long been a mentor to fellow engineers and geoscientists, and is well known for his infectious enthusiasm and warm personality. In 2002 he was named an Officer of the Order of Canada.
