Marguerite Gallaway has made accessible the finest Music, dance, Theatre, and fine arts in Saskatchewan. Born in Birsay on May 13, 1929, Gallaway completed her Education and arts degrees at the Universities of Saskatchewan and Regina respectively. In 1974, she became executive director of the Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils, and over the next thirteen years developed it into one of Canada’s strongest artistic networks. Gallaway was also on the board of the Saskatchewan Centre of the Arts, a member of the Saskatchewan Talent Selection Committee of SaskExpo 86, and president of the Saskatchewan Council of Cultural Organizations. In 1988, she received the Saskatchewan Order of Merit and was made a Member of the Order of Canada two years later.
