Born in Winnipeg on June 4, 1906, George Bothwell combined careers in journalism and advertising with a life-long dedication to volunteer service. From 1932 to 1943, he worked as a journalist in Regina, and following World War II, as an advertising and publicity manager for Saskatchewan Government Insurance. Numerous civic, provincial, and national organizations benefited from Bothwell's leadership as a volunteer. He chaired the board of the Regina Public Library for thirty years, served as director of the Saskatchewan Roughriders football Club for two decades, and was a forty-year member of the Kiwanis Club. In recognition of his service to the province, George Bothwell received the Saskatchewan Order of Merit in 1992.
